Privacy policy for ReviewFocus
Last updated 26 September 2026
In short
ReviewFocus collects no data about you. Your reminders are read and changed only on your own Mac. Only if you turn on sync yourself is your review schedule stored on a server, so it can follow you between your devices.
Reminders
ReviewFocus asks for access to Reminders through Apple's EventKit. The app reads the lists you choose, and changes a reminder only when you do so yourself during a review. Your reminders are synced by Apple through iCloud, not by ReviewFocus.
The review schedule
Which lists are in review, their cycles, per-task overrides and when a task was last reviewed are stored locally on your Mac.
Sync (optional)
If you turn on sync, you create an account with an email address and a password. The following is then stored with our database provider, Supabase, so the schedule can be fetched on your other devices:
- your email address
- the names of the lists you have in review, and their cycles
- for each task: its title, Apple's identifier for the reminder, any cycle of its own, when it was last reviewed and how many times
The reminders' notes, due dates and other content are not sent. The data is available only to your own account. You can turn off sync at any time; to have the account and its data deleted, write to support@bykjaergaard.eu.
Supabase stores the data in its data centre in Ireland (region West EU, eu-west-1), so it stays in the EU.
Notifications
If you ask ReviewFocus to notify you about pending reviews, the notifications are scheduled locally on your Mac.
What ReviewFocus does not do
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking across apps and websites.
- No sharing or selling of data.
Contact
The data controller is Lars Kjærgaard, ByKjaergaard. Send questions about privacy to support@bykjaergaard.eu.
Changes
If the policy changes, the date at the top is updated. Significant changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
