Privacy policy for FamView
Last updated 26 September 2026
In short
FamView sends no data to ByKjaergaard or anyone else. Everything runs on your own Mac and is shown only on devices on your own network.
What FamView reads
The FamView app on your Mac asks for access to Calendar, Reminders, Photos and Notes, and reads only the calendars, lists, albums and folders you choose in the app's settings.
Where data is kept
The day's data and the settings are stored on your Mac. The iPad fetches them directly from the Mac over your Tailscale network using HTTPS, and keeps the latest day so the screen works if the connection drops for a moment. Neither ByKjaergaard nor anyone else has access to the server on your Mac.
What FamView writes
When a task is ticked off on the iPad, the matching reminder is marked as completed. Otherwise FamView does not change your data in Apple's apps.
Photo locations
To show where a photo was taken, FamView looks up the photo's coordinates with Apple's own geocoding service. The result is stored on the Mac, so the same photo is not looked up again.
Children
FamView is made so a child can see their day. The app has no account, no chat, no outside content and no purchases. The adults in the family choose which data the screen shows.
What FamView does not do
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- No data is sent to ByKjaergaard.
Contact
The data controller is Lars Kjærgaard, ByKjaergaard. Send questions about privacy to support@bykjaergaard.eu.
Changes
If the policy changes, the date at the top is updated. Significant changes are mentioned in the app's release notes.
