Help setting up FamView on a Mac and an iPad, and answers to the questions that usually come up. The app itself is in Danish.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add FamView to the iPad's Home Screen?
Open your Mac's address in Safari on the iPad, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. FamView then opens full screen like an app.
The Mac shows no events or photos.
FamView reads data as the user who is logged in on the Mac. Open Calendar, Reminders, Notes and Photos once and check that the content has synced, and check under System Settings → Privacy & Security that FamView has access to them.
The access dialog never appeared.
macOS only asks for access while FamView is in the foreground. Start the app from the Applications folder, not from a script, and try again.
The iPad cannot reach the Mac.
Check that both devices are logged in to Tailscale on the same network, and that the Mac is on and has not gone to sleep. Turn off automatic sleep while the Mac is on power.
How do I change today's plan?
Tap the gear in the top right corner. It only shows on adults' devices; other devices ask for the four-digit code you chose the first time.
My child can see the gear.
Then the child's device is on the list of adults, or the code is known. Remove the device from the list in FamView on the Mac, or choose a new code.
